Wilmington, DE – Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) is proud to announce that Dr. Colleen Perry Keith has been selected by the ACE (American Council on Education) to serve as one of 30 mentors through the Moving the Needle: 2022–23 Women’s Leadership Mentoring Program.
Moving the Needle is a pilot project of the ACE Women’s Leadership Mentoring Program which launched in 2022 and will close in June 2023. ACE has selected and matched 30 pairs of mentors and mentees to engage in at least five virtual sessions over the course of the program.
“Goldey-Beacom College is pleased that Dr. Keith has been selected to participate in the Women’s Leadership Mentoring Program,” said GBC Board Chair Cornelia N. “Connie” Winner, Ed.D. She continued, “Colleen mentors those around her and demonstrates solid leadership. Those in the program may experience a new depth to their own leadership skills.”
A 2022 Women’s Power Gap study examined 130 major research universities and found that women serve at the helm as president for only 5% of these institutions.
Mentors will offer invaluable insights and guidance to emerging leaders. As part of the strategy to increase the number and diversity of women serving in executive-level positions at institutions and on governing boards, Moving the Needle has been designed to support and advance women through their careers in higher education.
Moving the Needle will provide an opportunity for women to engage in a mutually beneficial community designed to develop interpersonal and collaborative relationships.
The mentors and mentees selected reflect the diversity within higher education institutions. Mentors selected include those serving as presidents, in cabinet-level positions, and as deans and associate vice presidents. Selected mentees will range from women who hold cabinet-level positions to those serving as deans or directors.
