Wilmington, DE – Goldey-Beacom College (GBC) officially kicks off Delaware’s graduation season with its 135th Commencement Ceremonies on Friday, April 29, 2022, in the Joseph West Jones Center on the GBC campus.
Guest speakers elected by the GBC community:
Sixteen states and 46 countries are represented in the College’s 2022 Commencement Ceremonies. While more than 400 students will graduate this season, about 250 students will walk across the stage earning associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees, as well as doctoral degrees, in fields including information technology, marketing management, criminal justice, and accounting.

Guest speaker for the 2:00 p.m. ceremony, Lt. Governor Bethany Hall-Long, will also receive an honorary Doctor of Public Administration degree.
Currently, Hall-Long serves as the National Chair of the Democratic Lieutenant Governor’s Association. She recently served as the Chair of the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association.
Hall-Long also served as a member of Delaware’s legislature, first as a Representative and then as a Senator.
She served as the Chair of the Health and Social Services Committee where her efforts were aimed at improving health outcomes among Delawareans by combating addiction, focusing on a stronger mental health system, fighting cancer and health inequities in our state. She also serves as the President of our state’s Board of Pardons, overseeing Delaware’s pardons, reprieves, commutations of sentence and executive clemency.
Hall-Long is widely recognized as a leader who uses her skill and expertise in governance to bring people together, collaborate with her fellow legislators, build consensus and find common-sense solutions to issues and problems facing Delaware families and communities.
An educator herself, Hall-Long understands that an investment in academics is an investment in our future. Being a woman in STEM, she serves as an honorary chair of Million Women Mentors, encouraging girls to pursue careers in STEM fields. She also serves as a Hunt-Kean fellow and the Chair of the Office of Early Learning Advisory Committee.
From the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hall-Long directed Delaware’s battle against the virus and promoted our healthcare workers. On the frontline herself, Hall-Long has personally administered over 4,000 COVID-19 vaccines to Delawareans statewide.
Hall-Long began her second term as Delaware’s 26th Lieutenant Governor on Jan. 19, 2021.
Founded in 1886, Goldey-Beacom College has approximately 1,300 students enrolled from 22 states and 65 nations. The College offers 42 degree options in its graduate and undergraduate programs with majors in psychology, economics, criminal justice, communication & media, human services, English, and all areas of business, including accounting, business administration, entrepreneurship, and finance.
The College is accepting students into two new degree programs in fall 2022: B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies; B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Business Analytics. Both were approved in March 2022 by the Delaware Department of Education.
The College is committed to connecting its graduates with careers in their respective fields. For over a decade, the College has achieved a 90% placement rate for graduates.
